That’s not to say that people are not capable of change. However, the odds are a person will repeat past behavior. So if a girl or guy has cheated on somebody previously, don’t act so surprised when they do it to you.
”We are accustomed to people allowing the less attractive features of their personalities to blossom online. Lewd, impulsive and antisocial behavior becomes irresistible when potential perpetrators are shielded by secrecy and online anonymity.”
You see this a lot on Tumblr. By allowing anonymous comments and questions, you are seeking and somewhat advocating these behaviors. It would be nice to believe that other people would leave nice comments about how great you are or how much they like you, but in reality, anonymity allows users to disregard social etiquette. When there are no consequences, we see the true side of humanity.
So why do we continue to allow anonymous posts? Behavior is all about motivations and gains. What are we gaining by it? We allow ourselves to get ruffled by these people. Furthermore, once a Tumblr has gotten into a back and forth sparring match with anons, why do they continue to allow it? We know it will always come back to this, so why play that game?
